Watch Keepers of the Land on CBC Gem

After receiving awards and rave reviews at screenings and festivals across North America, the Keepers of the Land is now streaming on CBC Gem!

This powerful, award-winning documentary showcases the Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation, and the leaders, community members and KXSA stewards who are collectively protecting their territories for future generations.

Since the film was first released in 2023, the Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation has continued to advance its stewardship efforts, and was awarded the prestigious international Blue Park designation for the Gitdisdzu Lugyeks Marine Protected Area—the first Indigenous-led Blue Park in the world and the first award in Canada.

The Keepers of the Land is a Kitasoo Xai’xais film in collaboration with Moonfish Media, directed and produced by Deirdre Leowinata and Douglas Neasloss, with cinematography by Tavish Campbell, Deirdre Leowinata and Vernon Brown.
